UNVEILING – THE NEW, PATENTED GOOSENECK RISING SLIDING BOGIE TRAILER

Drivers and operators in the European container transport industry now have a competitively priced, easy and safe way to transport single 20′ containers in the mid-mounted position with optimal weight distribution, thanks to the launch of a new trailer from Dennison Trailers.

For nearly 20 years, the container transport industry has also been battling to line up the doors of a 20′ container with the rear position that a 40′ trailer has for safe unloading at loading bays, with previous solutions proving cumbersome, expensive and complicated.

Now, Dennison Trailers have found the answer with the introduction of their new Gooseneck Sliding Bogie Trailer, which uses a low friction roller system to allow a 32 tonne 20′ container to be moved from its running position to its offloading position with ease.

The trailer combines this roller technology with an innovative rising step into bogie. This allows the twist-locks securing the container to rise above the rear axles of the trailer for the first time, resulting in a system that’s easy and safe to use, with reduced driver setup time.

Earlier this year, the prototypes of the new patented concept were tested extensively in Germany, and the U.K and with very positive feedback. On the continent, the ease of use and simplicity stood out for the customers who used the trailer and in the UK, fuel efficiency was the standout selling point.

Offering a minimum of five years of roller life, a weight of at least 350kg lower than other sliding bogie trailers and safety thanks to its optimal weight distribution, this new addition to the Dennison Trailers range is the latest in a long line of innovations from the firm. The design has been rewarded with a nomination in the Trailer Innovation 2017 awards, the results of which will be unveiled at a ceremony at Hannover’s Convention Center on Friday 23rd September.

Based in Naas in Ireland and Lancaster, UK, Dennison Trailers has been building high-quality trailers for over 50 years. Having produced over 50,000 trailers in its history, the company is still family owned and run, and is one of the major players in commercial trailer manufacturing, offering a broad range of market-leading, innovative products. The company is known for its focus on high standards of customer service, regular research and development, and innovation, with the new gooseneck sliding bogie trailers the latest in a long line of innovative solutions.

David Dennison, Innovation Director of Dennison Trailers said,

“We’re proud to have created a solution to a problem that’s plagued the container transport industry for nearly 20 years – and even prouder that it’s been nominated for such a prestigious award. Innovation runs throughout our company and team.”

He went on to add:

“We love the challenge of coming up with solutions to issues that our customers face and we are excited about our new gooseneck sliding bogie trailers and we hope that the industry will be too.”
